The basics

What Does a General Dentist Do?

A general dentist is the dentist you see for regular care. At Smile Plus, that starts with exams and cleanings that catch problems early, then moves to treatment when a tooth needs repair or replacement. Because the same dentists see you at each visit, they know your history and can spot changes over time.

General dentists also handle a lot of the work people assume needs a specialist. Our dentists provide root canal treatment and wisdom tooth removal at the Surrey clinic, and they plan dental implants with 3D CBCT imaging.

Good to know

General Dentist or Specialist?

In British Columbia, a dental specialist has completed extra accredited training in one field, such as orthodontics or periodontics, and is registered as a specialist with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals.

A general dentist provides the broad range of care most patients need. Dr. Jesse Panesar and Dr. Sunny Panesar are general dentists.
